Mi nombre es Sabdiel Batista Díaz, estudié Periodismo, pero me gusta mucho la literatura universal y latinoamericana. He publicado artículos en periódicos, emisoras de radio, la televisión y agencias de prensa; he trabajado como Webmaster y Jefe de Redacción Digital del canal de TV de mi ciudad y como periodista. Publico en varios sitios web y blogs.
Además he sido Analista de Productos y Servicios de Información en la Agencia Latinoamericana de Noticias Prensa Latina y Profesor Auxiliar del Instituto Internacional de Periodismo “José Martí”, en La Habana.
Además de mi trabajo como periodista también dedico parte de mi tiempo a la informática (programo y diseño sitios web de medios de prensa) y al estudio de las ciencias sociales (estudié en una Maestría en Historia y Antropología) y al mantenimiento de varios blogs sobre temáticas diversas.
Actualmente curso el Doctorado en Ciencias de la Comunicación en la Universidad de La Habana.

He Obtenido en 5 ocasiones el Premio Provincial por la Obra del Año en Periodismo Digital (2010, 2014, 2015, 2020 y 2023). He obtenido en 6 ocasiones el Premio Internacional de la Editorial OX, en México (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 y 2018).
Soy miembro de la Unión de Periodistas de Cuba (UPEC), La Unión Nacional de Historiadores de Cuba (UNHIC), la Sociedad Cultural José Martí y la Asociación Cubana de Comunicadores Sociales (ACCS).

Socio, en febrero estuve en Cienfuegos para la reunión trimestral de corresponsales de JR y no pude ir al telecentro porque me dijeron que quedaba lejos del centro de la ciudad y como teníamos un programa apretadito no tuve tiempo, no obstante te digo que me enamoré de tu ciudad, de la limpieza, servicios, lugares y sobre todo de la Bahía.

La historia es tan simple como que mi hijo de 9 años defendió a capa y espada frente a todo su curso y frente a la propia maestra que SÍ hay plantas que se trasladan, a lo que la maestra le instó que lo documentara.

I’m trying to connect my great grandfather to Don Luis DeClouet. He would have been too old to father my great grandfather, but one of his sons or brothers could have. The information on the internet mentions two sons living in Fernandina de Jagua around 1819 when Don Luis arrived to the island. I doubt that his sons would have fathered my great grandfather, one son, Jose Alejandro, left Cuba around 1838 shortly after his father left for Spain in 1835, or so. Jose Alejandro married in France and had four children. The youngest son, Luis DeClouet, died in France from a dual, at 21 or 22 years of age. It has been suggested that Don Luis’s brother, Joseph de Clouet could be my connection : A captain in the Spanish army, he fought during the war of independence at the Pensacola Fort battle. He died of his wounds in La Havana, leaving Louisa, Josephine and Dolores, who remained in Cuba (La Havana). It is said that a “Pepa” de Clouet, illegitimate daughter, was raised with them. I think that Pepa is the nickname for Josephine, so there might only be those three daughters. I only have the story for the latter which says that she married Senor de Irizar first, and in second Sr Tomas. Hence the Tomas Tomas de Clouet.
I recently wrote a letter to a Mr. Amado A. Dclouet Terry, in Cienfuegos, but have not received a reply. I don’t even know, if this person is still alive, but mail has not returned my letter, yet. Amado carried the last names of two of the founding families of Cienfuegos, and is probably related to Don Luis, his brother, a grandchild, and/or the well known Terry family, of the Terry Theater fame.

Acabo de inscribirme en el blog, pues a pesar de no ser cienfueguero, me fascina vuestra ciudad y el entorno natural de la provincia. Veo que el tema patrimonial rige vuestra publicación y todo lo referente a ello me interesa.
Hace algún tiempo trato de seguir la historia del rico patrimonio industrial azucarero de la región, y ultimamente me preocupa el estado del «Batey de La Carolina», a raíz de ver un dosier fotográfico encontrado en una página de internet,(«iconicarchive O.Jaeggi) que aunque es de hace algunos años(1998), denota el lamentable deterioro de todo el parque industrial del batey, que a estas alturas, si no se ha tomado alguna medida de conservación o restauración, irá camino de su desaparición. Hace algún tiempo escribí al diario 5 de septiembre, manifestando mi preocupación y con el deseo de hacer alguna tarea de divulgación, para así sensibilizar a las autoridades que pueden desarrollar esta tarea. En esa ocasión se me respondió, pero creo no existieron acciones. Con posterioridad he leído que existe un proyecto de reconstrucción con apoyo financiero de la Petroquímica aledaña. pero tampoco se ha divulgado en qué fase se encuentra esta labor, o si sigue postergada. Ojalá no sea demasiado tarde para la salvaguarda de este trozo de nuestra historia. Cienfuegos es un ejemplo nacional en la protección de su patrimonio. Su condición de Patrimonio de la Humanidad, le da un grado máximo de atención de todo el mundo. Bien se merece rescatar este sitio de nuestra historia agroindustrial, y que sea un referente nacional en «La Huella del Azúcar en Cuba» como elemento fundador de nuestra nacionaldad.
Creo que conocer el patrimonio local, es la única forma de protegerlo y conservarlo.
